One of the most special traits of the culture in Luang Prabang is the Morning Alms Giving ritual that people will give alms to the monks in a respectful way. After that, explore the major tourist attractions of Royal Palace, Wat Xiengthong, and Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center. This morning, you will embark a cruise for the voyage upstream the mighty Mekong River toward Pakbeng. You will get a transfer to Luang Namtha – one of the best destinations in northern Laos. The city lies on the bank of the Namtha River, which ignites the serene and spectacular look. With the ideal hill-tribe treks, banana and corn plantation, and remote villages, this place will build your interest in the real countryside life of Laos. While the stop at the plantation provides the pristine photography opportunities, the visit to the ethnic village brings beautiful cultural experiences. Around late afternoon, you will arrive in the city to spend the night.
Today you will get around Luang Namtha town and explore its major highlights. The top things to see should always be Luang Namtha Stupa, Phou Pouk Stupa, Ban Nam Ngaen, and Ban Pieng Ngam. While the visit to the stupas gives you a glimpse of the locals’ religious life, the village exploration lets you get to know the Laos people better. At a later time, find joy in visiting Ban Nam Dee village and getting several cultural experiences. In this spot, you can attend the activities of paper-making, natural dying, or traditional weaving. After that, it’s glad to experience the Baci ceremony in a local house. For the welcoming Baci ritual, people will tie strings around your wrist to preserve good luck. You will bid your farewell to the host family in the village in order to take a drive transfer to Namkat Yorla Pa Resort in which the sense of relaxation is different. Then, you will embark a cruise for a voyage downstream the Nam Ou River toward Muang Ngoi village – the off-the-beaten-track site in northern Laos that is only accessible by boat. Find joy in visiting the local hamlets or relax by the sandbanks along the way. In the late afternoon, you will reach Muang Ngoi for a great stroll around the village. You will have another day in the remote village and make it special with a trek to the little-visited village of Ban Na. Besides, make sure you will discover the intriguing Tham Kang Cave which once was the bomb shelter during the wartime. The cave discovery is definitely designed for those that have a heart for exploring and adventuring. It is also exciting to take a boat trip downstream toward Ban Sop Kong. The full-day adventure trek to 100 waterfalls will excite you today. To begin, you will take a cruise trip along the Nam Ou River toward a pretty village. From this spot, be ready for the green trek toward the 100 Waterfalls across the pristine jungle. This amazing tour has pleased numerous trekkers and nature lovers, so rest assured that you are trekking on the ideal trails filled with virgin forest and beautiful cascading waterfalls for the real adventure. You will be able to spot some hidden villages during the trails while the natural pools are very inviting for a refreshing swim. Later, return to the river via another jungle trail. Embark a boat trip back to Nong Khiaw.
It will take a full day to drive to Muang Hiam, so take time enjoying the scenic drive through the pristine countryside landscape that is peaceful and pretty. As you are getting to one of the least-visited areas of Laos, take it easy and free to enjoy the remote journey to the fullest. You’re likely not to see crowds of other tourists. There will be several villages along the way. Around afternoon, you will arrive at Ban Son Khua which is a village of the Hmong group. Go for a tour around the hamlet until dinner time. Tonight, you will experience a homestay in a local family’s house.
Start the full-day adventure to Nam Et-Phou Louey National Protected Area that shelters a variety of the threatened animals namely tiger, gaur, white-cheeked crested gibbon, etc. The NPA provides ample opportunities to learn about wildlife conservation and environmental awareness. The journey will still go on after the sunset. Then, be ready for the night safari by cruising on the Nern River escorted by a local tour guide who will help you to spot the animals in the evening. The animals might come to the river for food or water, so catch the moments to take pictures. Return to the bungalow for a good-night rest.
Spend the morning to learn about medicinal plants as well as the history of the site. Then, say goodbye to the local village for a drive transfer to Xieng Khuang. Getting there, a must to see is the famous Plain of Jars that remains unexplained regarding the origin of the urns scattered across the plain. The view of Plain of Jars Site 1 brings the exceptional feeling about the different world in which thousands of the stone jars are put randomly on the upland valleys and the lower foothill.
